Welcome to the Tacoma Washington Bicycle Club (TWBC). These Terms of Service (ToS) govern your use of our website (www.twbc.org, portal.twbc.org, news.twbc.org), membership services, and any related digital services, including Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication via Facebook and Google.

By accessing or using our services, you agree to comply with these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

2. Membership & Account Registration

2.1 Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old or have parental/guardian consent to become a member of TWBC and use our services.

2.2 Account Creation

To access member-exclusive content and event registrations, you must create an account via our Joomla Membership Pro system or log in using Facebook or Google SSO. By doing so, you agree to provide accurate and up-to-date information.

2.3 Membership Payments

TWBC memberships may be subject to fees. All payments are processed securely, and membership fees are non-refundable unless otherwise stated in specific event policies.

2.4 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that:

• Violate these Terms of Service.

• Engage in fraudulent activities.

• Misuse our website, services, or violate applicable laws.

If you wish to delete your account, follow the instructions in our User Deletion Policy.

3. Acceptable Use Policy

By using our services, you agree to:

• Use TWBC’s website and services only for lawful purposes.

• Refrain from uploading, posting, or transmitting any content that is offensive, defamatory, or harmful.

• Not attempt to hack, disrupt, or interfere with TWBC’s website or digital services.

Any violation may result in the suspension or permanent ban of your membership and access to our platform.

4. Privacy & Data Protection

Your use of TWBC’s services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.

• If you use Facebook or Google SSO, we only collect your email address for authentication purposes.

• We do not post on your social media accounts or access any additional personal information beyond authentication.

• You may revoke access at any time through your Facebook or Google settings.

5. Club Communications

By registering as a TWBC member, you consent to receive:

• Membership-related emails about your account status, renewals, or benefits.

• Club newsletters and announcements sent via Mailchimp.

• Event notifications for rides, activities, and special meetings.

You can unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time via the unsubscribe link in our emails. However, essential membership-related communications cannot be opted out of.

6. Event Participation & Liability Waiver

When participating in TWBC-sponsored events, including bike rides:

• You acknowledge and accept the risks associated with cycling activities.

• You agree to wear a helmet and follow traffic laws.

• You release TWBC from any liability related to injuries, damages, or losses incurred during participation.

Some events may require additional waivers, which will be provided during registration.

7. Intellectual Property

• TWBC’s website, content, logos, and materials are protected under copyright laws.

• You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reproduce any TWBC content without prior written permission.

• Any user-generated content shared on our website (such as ride reports or photos) may be used for club promotions with attribution.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability

• TWBC provides its website and services "as is" and does not guarantee that the platform will be error-free or uninterrupted.

• TWBC is not responsible for third-party services (e.g., Mailchimp, Facebook, Google) that integrate with our platform.

• To the fullest extent permitted by law, TWBC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages related to your use of our website or services.

9. Changes to These Terms

TWBC reserves the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. If we make significant changes, we will notify members via email or an announcement on our website. Continued use of TWBC services after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
